It’s Wednesday. Or, Hump Day, as some affectionately call it. Personally, Wednesdays aren’t my favorite! By this time during the week I start to get discouraged that I’m not doing everything I need to be doing, or I start to doubt myself and my work, or I’m just plain tired! I thought I would spice it up a bit by starting a new series called Whatever Wednesday. In these posts I’ll talk about, you guessed it, whatever! Something about myself, my husband, our life, my love for coffee, hobbies, or, in today’s case, a behind the scenes post. Now, this sounds like I’ve spent a lot of time thinking of it… but really it just came to me when I thought, “It’s already almost 5PM! What on earth am I going to post today?!” and this behind the scenes post was the quickest solution. *facepalm* I was getting ready to post it when I thought, “hey. Wednesdays are hard. Blogging on Wednesdays is hard. Why not make something fun out of this wacky weekday?” And thus Whatever Wednesday was born. (yes, yes, I know my alliterations are amazing right now.. hah… hah *crickets* ok then…)
Today I’ve been watching some wonderful webinars (that one was unintentional. seriously.) at the Turn It Up Conference from the Online Photo Academy! I’m so excited about what I’m learning and implementing them into my business right away, but also a little bit (okay, a lot) overwhelmed! There is just SO much information out there on how to succeed in this industry that it can get a little bit crazy. I’m focusing on what I can achieve right now, one step at a time. Whenever I get stressed my mom would always say to me, “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.” It reminds me to not think about everything all at once, but focus on what I can accomplish today! (side note: don’t ask my husband this question. Whenever I ask him how to eat an elephant he responds with “You don’t.” Nice. Another side note… I’m thinking about writing down all of his jokes and saving them in a book so that when we have kids I can give them official “Dad Jokes.”)
I also got to spend some time today with my 3-year-old nephew who lives in Chattanooga with my brother and sister-in-law. He has the cutest little blonde curls! In all the fun I realized I hadn’t posted a blog yet! So today for Whatever Wednesday I’m sharing some behind the scenes images from the wedding I shot a couple weekends ago at The Loom and Trinity Bible Church! Whenever Sara shoots with me, she always captures some behind the scenes shots of me shooting and I just love it! I hope it helps give you a glimpse into what a wedding with Kingsbridge Photography would be like! Enjoy!
Hanging up the Dress! This shot always takes more time to set up than you would think! We have to be super careful with the expensive dresses, but still get a creative shot! Here I’m standing on a ladder the awesome coordinator, Jeannie, found for us!
Shooting the bridal portraits! I always look for a space with lots of natural light coming in for the best portraits! I also like to have a simplified background, so here we are shooting against the white curtains!
Showing them a preview of how good they look!
Sometimes I just get really excited and can’t contain it!! I love my couples!
Shooting with my widest lens and backed up as far as I can to get the shot! Sometimes the tightest spaces have the best light! Side note: I actually just started wearing different shoes to weddings! I have found that I can’t wear flats all day long or my feet hurt like crazy, because flats don’t offer the support that I need. Now I wear wedges at the first part of the day and change to flats for the reception. It really does help to change shoes at the reception!
Directing the family portraits can be a challenge because sometimes we shoot large groups! I always try to get this part of the day done as quickly as possible so that our older guests don’t have to stand too long, and just so that the whole process is as enjoyable as possible!
Sometimes we have time for an artsy portrait of ourselves, too! Thanks, Sara!
Thanks for reading!
